Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It seems to bear some semblance to a horse.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

This poor filly's mother was entirely nervous when she revealed her deformed daughter to the rest of the herd, and with good reason. Many were repulsed and horrified at Equestria Hurls, and the heavily superstitious members demanded that the demon be banished. Despite her appearance, Equestria Hurls is just a small filly who poses no threat to anyone. She was reluctantly accepted, and some more open dragons found it within themselves to show her some kindness.
