Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

When other dragons first meet her, Coldblue seems to be the picture of innocence. She is small and cute, but she is also good at fooling others, for Coldblue is an arrogant little hatchling, quick to be cruel to others both with words and teeth. And vain, too; she can often be found admiring herself in any handy puddle. But despite this, her cruelty is only a mask. Underneath, she is really an insecure, shy, confused little hatchling who only wishes for a friend.
