Gold dragons are the ones most often killed by humans, who consider their scales to be extremely valuable. These golden scales grant them a high level of protection, similar to armor, and they use this to their advantage in battle.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Citrinthius GoldenShine (after the gemstone: Citrine) became the 65th dragon of the clan cave, and most of the clan elders believe his arrival was foretold by Lepidolitriel's coming, a true omen of the good fortune, hope and prosperity that surrounds the Sunsong breed. He was born of a long and noble line, whose clan mother had only just joined a small faction of people seeking to preserve, protect and proliferate the rare, Golden breed. The call rang out, upon the wind the message fell, and soon thereafter, his egg was gifted, then transported, into the Mystal Clan. Like many of his brethren, Citrinthius is highly sought after by common folk seeking quick fortunes from his prized scales. Much to their calamity, however, none within the clan cave would ever allow a blade to swing or an arrow to fly anywhere near their shining clans mate. Secure and safe from threat, he is free to engage in other battles, like fighting off the many various suitors who wish to gain his affections!
