Sunrise Dragons are closely related to sunset dragons. However, their behaviors differ greatly. Sunrise Dragons prefer to live in large groups and enjoy basking in the early morning sun. They are usually most active in the morning, and go to sleep in the early evening.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Being from the same hatching set, Daestyrn the Magi dragon often tries to claim Mornyn as his brother. He might as well try to capture sunlight. Mornyn knows no family, neither does he wish to. He shuns most all dragons, opening his emotions to none, not even hatchlings. Distant, proud, cold, aloof...his personality shares some traits with Daestyrn but the defining quality is that underneath, Mornyn's persona is rock hard whereas Daestyrn's is nothing but hot air.

But in the mornings, starting when the sun's light is just barely kissing the tops of the hills and ending at high noon, Mornyn's personality takes a drastic change. He becomes kind and lovable, frolicking in the morning sun. His face loses its stern, harsh look, and his actions become less stiff. As soon as the morning is over though, his normal personality takes over again.

He and Grengoriar have discussed becoming mates, but Greng dislikes his morning persona so much that they have not yet reached a settlement.
