Black Dragons are warriors. They are strong and capable in battles of force, but also ample magic users, capable of devastating opponents with their spells. Their bright eyes give them excellent night vision, which is why they generally hunt during the night.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Magnus hails from a rather prestigious lineage of black and metallic dragons, all highly sought residents in the caves of scroll holders. But this valuable heritage also presents a unique problem for Magnus; it makes finding a suitable partner troublesome at best. Like his family before him, he seeks to live up to the challenge of keeping the family lineage clean and orderly. These imposed standards severely limit his choices for a potential mate to call his own, something he tries not to think about often. As time goes on, he finds himself doubting his abilities to uphold his lineage. To find a mate he loves and who would love him is what he cares more for with each day. But he can never forget the value of his roots and the need to continue them to fight the inbreeding of his species. If he could find a mate who could satisfy both these needs, Magnus would dare claim to be the happiest dragon alive.
