Stone Dragons have a tough outer covering made of a stone-like material. They eat rocks, using the minerals they contain for nourishment and to keep up their stone outer shell. They rarely move, and are the heaviest of all types of dragons. Although they have wings, indicating flight ability, no one has ever seen a stone dragon flying.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

The moon shone bright on the rocky landscape set high in the mountains above Suyeta Valley. Well below the snowy peaks lay Atalvyi, because he absolutely hated the way the moisture would freeze between his rocky scales. Still, it was high enough that most of the others wouldn't make the trip. The thinner air made the strenuous journey a difficult one. It suited him just fine. Atalvyi settled to the ground slowly, easing his great mass to a more rested position as he got ready to sleep. He preferred the quiet stillness to the noisy chaos of the valley floor. Far too many hatchlings running around like mad -and before he'd trekked up here- enjoyed using him as a place to climb. If the Goddess should have need of him elsewhere She would let him know. If that put him at odds with the others, so be it.
