Black Dragons are warriors. They are strong and capable in battles of force, but also ample magic users, capable of devastating opponents with their spells. Their bright eyes give them excellent night vision, which is why they generally hunt during the night.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Nora Emery is a dragon with a big heart. Having been abandoned herself, she decided to create a refuge for abandoned dragons. To do this she assembled a group of dragons who were also abandoned. Three pink dragons for their nurturing instinct and three seasonal spring dragons for spring's association with birth and growth; judging their kind to have the mindset and aptitude to create a good environment for abandoned hatchlings to grow up in. Her first companions were the pink dragons Panteleimon Amaranth, Rosalie Calanthe and Sermin Aygul; and the spring dragons Pinar Nermin, Vasanta Elvan and Anemone Petal. Together they created the Haven Refuge for Abandoned Dragons, or HRAD for short, with Nora Emery, as the originator of the idea, and a natural warrior, appointed as its leader and protector.
