Black Dragons are warriors. They are strong and capable in battles of force, but also ample magic users, capable of devastating opponents with their spells. Their bright eyes give them excellent night vision, which is why they generally hunt during the night.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Thanatos has led a traumatic nest life. Shunned by her nestmates as evil, she would hide herself from passerby humans to protect them from the seemingly gruesome reality laid out before her. For in the nest, every human who laid eyes on the bright ones of Thanatos would die, usually within the following month of visiting. so terrible was this seeming truth that it gave rise to the urban legend stating that all who laid eyes on a black dragon in day would quickly die. None broke this rule for the entirety of Thanatos' nest life. Nii-Chan has proved the first exception to that rule, seeing the neglected black dragon and raising her to full adulthood, all without dying or even falling moderately ill in the process.
