Shallow Water Dragons are found in tropical regions where the water is warm. They use their magic to hunt, using bubbles to capture small fish and animals. Their large, webbed feet make them excellent swimmers and they are able to move at very high speeds. Due to their bright color, these dragons are easily spotted in the lagoons where they live.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Eternal Pessimist is a terribly pessimistic Shallow Water dragon. In his opinion, life is merely a period of miserable existence between hatching and dying. A sunny day just reminds him that the sun will eventually die, a flower is only there to wilt and a rainbow leaves out too many colours to be considered even remotely beautiful.

  A lagoon at the most southern tip of the lands of HeroHorse is Eternal Pessimist's home. Unlike the other lagoons in the area, his lagoon is gloomy, with dark rocks surrounding it and black seaweed growing in its murky depths. Pessimist often makes black bubbles using his magic, gazing at them as they rush to the surface and pop, occasionally remarking that everything must end.

  Eternal Pessimist may miserable, but it cannot be denied that he has a soft side which he shows in the presence of his mate, Princess Dancer. However, he is mostly gloomy and eternally pessimistic.
