When Water Dragons mature, they lose the ability to survive on land, entering the water permanently. They are adept swimmers and eat whatever fish are in the lake they live in. They tend to inhabit the same lake for their entire lives, although a few live in the ocean and swim all over the world.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Roaming in a bottomless lake in one end of the cave, Maiaru endlessly searches for the biggest fish of the area. Her movements below the surface are pretty like those of a dancer, her play with bubbles fascinating in a way one can't well describe—she seems to lock the gazes of those few, who witness her actions, like no other view in the world. Yet, every move she makes is an act of a huntress. Her jaws gather water inside them, tasting whether there is something new around, something she left unnoticed before, and her eyes move restlessly around, staring into the black water around her.<br/>A flicker of movement in her sight, and she's gone with a flash of cerulean blue.
