Thunder Dragons are the masters of electricity. Their wings gather energy as they soar through the clouds, and when they clap their wings together they can create devastating arcs of lightning. They can stay airborne nearly indefinitely, landing only to sleep and breed; they catch their prey from the air and take moisture from the clouds. A thunder dragon’s roar is considered to be an omen of misfortune.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

The Fog Is Near is a rather mysterious dragon with an equally mysterious habit. He often warns the dragons of his clan that "the fog is near", despite the fact that he will only approach them with this ominous prediction on perfectly clear days. Any attempt to extract further information from him will be met with silence and an intense stare. As a result of this, most dragons consider him absolutely nonsensical, to be regarded in the same way as others such as Square Roots (a dragon who disappeared into the caves under the clan territory, believing there is a sinister pattern in their layout), and ONE DOES NOT SIMPLY SAY THREE (who flies into an incoherent rage whenever anyone else dares to use that number). Shunned by most, the mighty thunder dragon rarely appears other than to make his warning, and some say his only friend is Fierce Storms—Kill Everyone, an eccentric dragoness who also makes very strange weather predictions.
