Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It’s brightly colored and chirps quite often.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Omphale is a small pink dragon who was caught in a misdirected spell and will never mature beyond her current "hatchling" status.  Although she is small, she is active and curious.  This curious nature is what caused her to become trapped in the path of the spell that stunted her growth—she was creeping closer to a forest clearing where she heard strange noises.  This hasn't caused her to be any more cautious, however.  She can often be found bounding through the nearby forests and creeks looking for tender bits to nibble.
