Black Dragons are warriors. They are strong and capable in battles of force, but also ample magic users, capable of devastating opponents with their spells. Their bright eyes give them excellent night vision, which is why they generally hunt during the night.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

A small box with holes, a dusting of snow, and the mewls of a hatchling greeted the owner when she left the cave at a knock on the walls.  It was such an odd occurrence that all the dragons of the cave quieted down and looked to the entrance, where there was a cardboard container that looked to be shaking.  When it was opened, there was a note inside proclaiming Christmas joy as well as a small Black hatchling that had a slightly different head shape than its cousins.  It was, according to the owner, an "alternate" and as such was special.  While this offended the other Blacks slightly, it did not stop Christmas Doubloons from being accepted warmly into the cave.
