Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It glows brightly, and seems to prefer warm areas.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Spitsy is an energetic dragon, albeit grumpy at times. When he enters what is known to the other hatchlings as his "mood," everyone knows to keep their distance, lest he should bark and grumble insults at them. However, he would never hurt his peers, and knows to keep his distance so he doesn't burn them by mistake.

Despite some of his flaws, Spitsy holds a special place in the other dragons' hearts for one reason: he is a wonderful source of heat. When the sun sets in the sky and the older dragons send their young ones to bed, they will all gather around him as if he's a campfire. Spitsy doesn't mind. In fact, he encourages it on chilly nights, and even tells everyone stories to help them sleep. His loyalty and devotion to other dragons is admirable, and he is a welcome member to any cave he chooses to enter that day.
