Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Bottle of Ketchup is a very spoiled dragon, as she is constantly demanding favors from others. In fact, she enjoys acting like a helpless hatchling in order to get others to take pity on her. However, only the gullible and oblivious dragons fall for her tricks, for the wise ones see straight through her lies. Bottle of Ketchup is disliked and criticized by those who notice her true colors, but as the young hatchling is of high social class, they feel obliged to keep her around.
