Black Dragons are warriors. They are strong and capable in battles of force, but also ample magic users, capable of devastating opponents with their spells. Their bright eyes give them excellent night vision, which is why they generally hunt during the night.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Orpheus was a dragon born alone. He hatched into a cave full of the bodies of his family. He grew into adulthood without ever meeting another dragon or knowing any language. He was the most raw feral form of dragon. Yula came on a mission from her home to meet Orpheus. She managed to get close and to lure him. Orpheus eventually flew home with her. As he learned language and lived, he fell in love with Yula. He attempted to kill a member of Yula's family in his jealousy. In the end the dragon elders banished Orpheus and turned him into a human to live out the rest of his life.
