Striped Dragons come in a dazzling array of colors complemented by an intricate pattern of stripes. These bright colors and patterns help attract their favorite food, insects. Because their prey is so tiny, striped dragons must spend a large portion of their day eating. The color of the offspring is usually determined by the dragon’s mate.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Fire of Thaleron was discovered by Lisolette shortly after her mate, Flame of Thaleron, was found by Clicker Thaleron. Unlike Flame, Fire was rejected by her mother because of her coloring but was not immediately abandoned. Lisolette, always on the prowl for new family members, convinced Fire's mother that Fire would be happier in Thaleron, where she would have a mate. As a result, Fire grew up with Flame and the pair has been inseparable from childhood. Nevertheless, Fire is actually quite shy, and does not easily communicate with strangers. Stripes of other colors tend to remind her of her mother and she often feels intimidated by them. She chooses to obtain any news of the world around her from Flame and has been known to go "missing" for weeks, hiding in the deeper caves.
