Black Dragons are warriors. They are strong and capable in battles of force, but also ample magic users, capable of devastating opponents with their spells. Their bright eyes give them excellent night vision, which is why they generally hunt during the night.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Little is actually known about this secretive dragon, other than he dwells within the ruins of an old temple not far from where the majority of the flock live, which is how he earned his name.

It has become a sort of "rite of passage" amongst the hatchlings for them to spend a night in the old temple, trying to find the elusive Shadow and bring back something to prove that his existence is not simply a myth. While many attempt the challenge, few stay longer than a few hours before either being dragged out by angry parents or fleeing in fear of the "eyes in the dark".

One little hatchling, however, decided that she was the one to fulfil the challenge, and one dark night she entered the temple, unaware that she was watched by curious emerald eyes.

Upon reaching the inner most sanctum, only then did Shadow make himself known, impressed by her courage, and offered to take the orphan under his wing, to teach her everything he knew.

Since then, he and Lune have been near inseparable.
