Seasonal Dragons take on the characteristics of the season during which they are born. Thus, eggs that are laid in spring match the pink flowers and green buds of spring, and those that are laid in the summer grow to depict the bright green of the forest trees and the yellow of the sun. Eggs laid in autumn display the bright colors of leaves falling from trees, and those that are laid during winter take on the appearance of the icy snow.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Arkady was originally going to be ignored in hopes of making him a Neglected dragon. He was conditioned enough to be able to hatch on his first day as an egg and ignored until he only had about a day to live as a hatchling. Then, the human of the cave, 5ilence, went to check on him. Though he was sick and weak, barely able to move, he used the little energy he had to nuzzle the human's hand. 5ilence didn't have the heart to continue ignoring him, and raised him into a Winter dragon as he was. His previous treatment left his wings and crest underdeveloped and he cannot fly. He is timid and often lonely, and his coloration is greatly dulled. He never found out that the one who saved him is the one who put him in that condition to begin with.
