Ochredrakes are a curious species with a wide array of mutations and interesting behaviors. Not as intelligent as normal dragons, they only breed with other drake species. While they may not be bright, ochredrakes are flamboyant and fun-loving with amazing, chirping voices to sing with, and tame readily in the presence of a gentle hand.

Though it may appear at first that dragons and drakes have much in common, the two are completely separate species. Drakes are smaller and less intelligent than their cousin species, though both dragons and drakes sit comfortably near the top of the food chain. They are always found bearing antlers and leathery wings. Drakes share many of the same habitats that dragons do, and typically hunt in packs.

Tawny Nuria isn't the sharpest tool in the shed. Ember Nuria, a human girl, found her egg in a forest. When Tawny hatched, she was a very confused little hatchling. She couldn't understand why all the other dragons could fly and she couldn't and tried on several occasions to jump off a cliff to see if she really couldn't fly. Luckily, the faster dragons always caught her.  Aashini, the guardian of hatchlings, had to be following Tawny constantly to protect her from herself. As Tawny grew, so did her knowledge, and although she can get around without hurting anything (including herself) Aashini still watches her from afar, and so do the other dragons raised by Ember . Tawny fell hopelessly in love with Gandhi Nuria, a prideful Day Glory drake, and they had a Night Glory drake child named Nox together. Gandhi is a world traveler, so Tawny stays home on the mountain of Elgar with Ember and raises her hatchling, and although she often forgets its name, she is a good and loving mother.
