Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Laques is a very talented young frill dragon. The Spectacular Circus Of Dragonoids hired her partly because of her natural agility and because they needed a trapeze and tightrope artist who lacked wings to make the act mare convincing. Laques loves her career at the circus and is pleased with the Oo's and Aa's of the crowed as she runs with her nimble legs across the long thin string doing flips and twirls along the way. And the fact that she lacks wings only makes the spectators applause louder. Although there is a down side to having no wings. She is cursed to never feel the joy of flight and she sometimes wonders if she'll ever grow wings. However, a knew member of the circus and her best mate, or friend shade who is also a hatchling but with wings will carry her around in the air sometimes which she gets a tremendous rush of adrenaline and joy from.
