Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

"Hymirs Sohn" is german for "Hymirs son". Hymir was the name of an ice-giant in the nordic legends.

He was given his name because he was dedicated to Hymir as his priest, which means that it might be necessary to make a martyr of himself once the time has come.

Hymirs Sohn feared his fate so he begged Hymirs Tochter to cast a spell that made him stay a Hatchling. He thought he could escape his destiny but now he learned that it was divine providence—he sacrificed his adulthood and imprisoned in his ever youthful body, he will never have children of his own. Now he realised this, he humbly serves as Hymirs priest.
