Sapphire Dragons were so named for their brilliant color, which is reminiscent of the gemstone. This breed was historically hunted for their scales; even long after, they remain distrustful of humans. Normally a Sapphire is not very aggressive, but they will defend themselves vigorously if under attack. Their diet consists mainly of fruit, with smaller portions of large insects and other invertebrates. Males woo females with vocalizations similar to bird songs. Sapphire Dragons are very loyal to their mates, and it is not unusual that they pair for life.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

The meek one in a litter of three, Vivid relies a lot on his siblings for protection, especially the bulky, intimidating Rich. He's physically the weakest of the three and is petrified of the world. Vivid is terrified of anything new or remotely threatening, often jumping to absurd and paranoid conclusions about them in the moment. Vivid is known for his, well, vivid imagination which runs wild constantly. It gets to the point where he can't always tell reality and dream apart. He seems to believe quite a few things he either forgot he made up or heard from dubious sources. These are usually odd things, like Wyrms can't see in color or pygmies are inherently prone to catching rabies, just strange things that probably aren't true, but Vivid is wary of. He's the type to always assume the worst of everyone else, no matter how friendly they seem, just like Rich. The two make a pretty terrible pair, with Rich's gung-ho, reckless attitude being fueled by Vivid's constant paranoia and fear.
