Blazeback Dragons live in active volcanic regions, rarely straying from such homes. Their skin is thick and extremely heat resistant, allowing them to swim in hot pools of lava. This lava ignites the oils secreted along the Blazeback’s spine, and in combination with their ability to cast fire magic, can keep the flames going indefinitely provided the dragon consumes enough mana to maintain its strength. An impressive intimidation tool, the flames also provide enough heat to keep Blazebacks warm on volcanic summits.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Tomei happens to live near a stream of lava studded with veins of fire mana, which connects to a lava pool with particularly brilliant mana crystals at its base. To keep her home cozy and warm, as well as completely off-limits to any would-be thieves, Tomei has spent years slowly diverting the flow of lava into a makeshift moat around her cave's entrance. To Tomei, home is not home unless some part of it is on fire. She's recently been trying out some lamps carved from fire mana crystal, enchanted to burn without smoke or scent. Tomei insists that while she might not be able to have as many pretty decorations as her family members living in less extreme biomes, she can still make her home look dazzling with what the volcano offers.
