White Dragons are pacifists and specialize in extremely strong healing magic. The only limit of this magic is that it can’t bring back the dead. They only eat plants and never kill living things.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Lauta is not unusual for a White, at first glance. She's dainty and elegant, with a gentle smile. She loathes violence and wants her flightmates to be happy. Behind all that sweetness, however, is a hard edge. Once Lauta decides upon a course of action, she is inexorable. Whatever it takes to accomplish her goal will be done—if others do not want to do it, she will not stop until they see how important it is to her. And it is always very important; she makes no decision she is not determined to see through to the end, even if she later admits it was the wrong choice.

So, when she saw a scrap of poetry on a sheet of parchment and became determined to meet the author, the author was eventually met.
