Considered heralds of ill fortune, Omen Wyrms are usually found in areas previously ravaged by disaster or strife, blending in amongst the foliage. Due to the unique appearance and texture of their bodies, they often pass as dead trees as they wait for unsuspecting prey. Their haunting cry—like that of a hollow-sounding horn—is a sure signal to run: it is always followed by the dragons’ furious wrath, which manifests in the form of fiery cascades. Escape from an Omen Wyrm is possible, however; it is said they will not dare follow their quarry across running water, no matter the cause of their vexation.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Hamukau tends to set fire to anything that irritates him. Incidentally, these things aren't really predictable and can be anything from a flower that is too obnoxiously colored to a small beetle that is flying in a disorienting pattern. Though he has yet to torch a dragon or a person, Hamukau tries to seek out areas that don't have many other living things around, since he prefers plainer, simpler places. Some say that he can spend hours admiring an overwhelmingly dull rock formation, because he finds a sense of serenity in the dreary and mundane.
