Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. Despite being as black as outer space, it has a few bright patterns on it.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Star Wards is a small Nebula hatchling. Oftentimes she'll try and find playmates, usually Slippery Deeds and Unlegged Lightning. The trio like to imagine they've got their own group, as all three are part of the Protectors. They usually play at night, when Lightning has to sneak out behind Star Wards to join Deeds. They then join together and play.

As all three of them were cursed by an evil Magi Dragon—thankfully dead now—they're forever hatchlings. But that doesn't mean they can't help! Star Wards helps some of the other dragons keep watch over the den while they're busy. With Star's help, they have successfully repelled many attacks and kept everyone else safe, as Wards has really good eyesight and can spot enemies from afar.

Star, while having many of her breed around her, she doesn't have many friends within them. Oftentimes she can't help but think its because of her size. But there are other small hatchlings, and they have loads of friends! Star just doesn't understand.
