Deep Sea Dragons, as their name suggests, spend most of their time in the darkest depths of the sea. They have a bioluminescent dorsal spine that serves to attract prey and communicate with their own kind. As with many deep sea animals, they generally eat whatever they can manage to bait. They rarely leave the ocean floor, surfacing only during breeding season. When they do choose to travel to the shallower depths, they avoid bright lights and will only come up far away from shore.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Dragons are powerful warriors. They are self-sufficient wanderers and are worldly and wise. They make names for themselves. They form families together.

So for Halwende, born and raised in a tiny pond in the Cloudtouched Thicket, life couldn't seem more dull. He heard tales of his peers who went on to become an inspiration but felt he couldn't join them. He was instead trapped in a pool of water that he had rapidly outgrown. He couldn't even hunt for himself, having to rely on Tenderheart for his daily meals.

So when Sahvot and Vahzen discovered the great Crystal Waters, his dream of truly living felt just outside of his grasp. For a time, he lived vicariously through Vahzen's tales of this watery paradise. Then came Archaius. This talented Magi dragon cast his first teleportation spell while aiding Halwende in reaching the Crystal Waters. Halwende has made the most of this gift, and now spends his time teaching young aquatic dragons the skills they need to achieve their own dreams.
