Falconiform Wyverns are normally shy creatures. However, when approached, they often feel threatened, and the flames along their bodies leap higher. Females tend to be smaller than males, though Falconiform Wyverns are typically rather large overall. They use their size to their advantage by hunting smaller dragons. The Falconiform’s graceful, swooping dives are said to resemble birds of prey. Falconiforms are largely solitary dragons that only meet in order to breed.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

The Freani-eplith, or Friends of the Forest, are a guild that has sworn to protect the forest and all who pass through it. There are four "divisions" within the guild: The Guardians, The Cloud Guard, The Earth Guard, and The Bloodseekers.

The Cloud Guard controls the skies over the area they protect, keeping a watchful eye out for trouble. Members of the Cloud Guard are often clever and rely on speed in battle rather than strength.

Helchanar is part of the Cloud Guard. After a brief affair with a Frostbite dragoness in the mountains bordering the forest, he disappeared. For a while nobody saw or heard from Halchanar. This occurred during a time when tensions between the Freani-eplith and the Orle-annia were at an all-time high. It almost turned into an all-out war over baseless accusations as to what became of Halchanar.

As it turns out, he was raising his son in secret during that time and returned to the guild with his offspring in tow after just a few months.
