Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Mystic Sand Castle is a Brimstone dragon. He likes to accompany Sand Spirit in carving her sand villages, and sometimes even helps her with them. Because of his going everywhere with Sand Spirit, the other dragons like to tease the two, saying that if they weren't frozen, they would be a couple with lots of eggs. Even though Mystic Sand Castle brushes them off, in reality, he is actually secretly in love with Sand Spirit, and, because she chose to be frozen, so did he.
