Stellarum Wyrms are a curious breed that often stay high up in the atmosphere as they travel across the world. They seem to greatly enjoy visiting and experiencing different environments, only staying in one place for a short while before leaving to find somewhere new to explore. Sometimes these new adventures can lead to danger, and in such cases the Stellarum Wyrm has developed a way to quickly escape from anything that would try to trap or harm it. Stellarum Wyrms are capable of leaving a small piece of their liquid like tails behind that they maintain a psychic link with. This tail piece hardens and acts as an anchor that the wyrm and anyone with them can warp to at will by diving into the remainder of the wyrm’s tail. This trick is not just used to escape danger, but also to easily revisit places where they feel comfortable, safe, or that they just enjoy. Young adults can only maintain one anchor at a time, and if the anchor is destroyed or if they choose to cut their psychic connection to it, the wyrm can no longer warp to it. In their eagerness to visit new places, young adults will often abandon their old anchors and create a new anchor the moment their tails grow back. As they get older, they tend to maintain a single anchor for longer stretches of time. Elder wyrms have gained the mental strength to maintain more than one anchor, though even maintaining just two or three is considered an impressive feat amongst their kind. The most ancient of Stellarum Wyrms were said to have vast networks of anchors that they could warp between, but since such long lived creatures are so rarely found, there are doubts if they actually exist.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.
