Balloon Dragons are so named because they are filled with a gas that makes them almost lighter than air, similar to balloons. However, they are not prone to bursting, as they are covered in tough skin and can deflate themselves if necessary. In addition, they generally are slow moving. They use their gas bladders to float to the tops of trees, where food is more abundant. They can shift their weight from their backs to their fronts, allowing them to reach leaves and fruit.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

User Description

Hindenburuku used to be a great floater. He was floating along when an arrow was shot into his side. There were humans out hunting that day who wanted a balloon dragon's air sacks to sell on the black market. The arrow pierced his right air sack and he plummeted towards the ground; before he hit down a swarm of dragons from the near by cliffs came to his rescue and took him back to their cave. The tended to his wounds the best that they could, but his air sack could not be repaired. It was not a fatal wound; it just forced him to stay grounded. He could no longer fill his air sacks without putting himself in great pain. So he stays at the kind dragons' cave and protects the hatchlings while the others are away as a small token of thanks for what they did for him. He shuffles over to the edge of the cave sometimes to longingly look at the sky and wish that he could fly once again.

His name means Hindenburg (the blimp).
