Turpentine Dragons are named for the oil that covers their scales. This oil resembles turpentine in odor and is mildly toxic; it will not kill but it burns to the touch and will cause illness in anyone who ingests it. Turpentine Dragons roam in large packs, often stealing food from larger dragons, though they are able to hunt for themselves if necessary. Many other breeds consider Turpentine Dragons to be pests, so they primarily breed among themselves.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Slick De Draco (otherwise known as just Slick) is the tomboyish Turpentine Dragon who is considered the outcast of the clan. Because of the oil on Slicks scales, the other members of the clan tend to avoid her to avoid getting burned. One time a young hatchling approached her and thought her oil was water, so it drank some of it and fell seriously ill (luckily it survived). No-one would even talk to her for 3 months after the incident. Slicks only friend is Glare McSparks.

Slick comes into her own when she's fighting and hunting in the wild. She'll craftily steal food from any dragon twice her size and not flinch. This is also helpful in battles as she can pull off surprise attacks. This has earned her some authority back but she still has a long way to go if she is to be considered anything but an outcast.
