Deep Sea Dragons, as their name suggests, spend most of their time in the darkest depths of the sea. They have a bioluminescent dorsal spine that serves to attract prey and communicate with their own kind. As with many deep sea animals, they generally eat whatever they can manage to bait. They rarely leave the ocean floor, surfacing only during breeding season. When they do choose to travel to the shallower depths, they avoid bright lights and will only come up far away from shore.
Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.
User Description
Scaled Abyss is a solitary, quiet Deep Sea dragon that spends his life slithering through the darkest of depths. His bioluminescent dorsal spine has a tear in it from a skirmish he had with another Deep Sea dragon that wasn't very friendly. Since prey is scarce down at the ocean floor, Scaled Abyss usually has a day where he darts through the water, baiting fish and other creatures over and over, eating each one when he manages to bait them until he's completely full. Eating so much allows him to not have to eat too much the next day, which relieves him from having to starve too often. When he does start to starve, he uses his snout to dig into the ocean floor, managing to snatch small prey hiding there. As for breeding season, when Deep Sea dragons surface for once, Scaled Abyss doesn't come up for very long. He stays in shallower waters for a day, before darting back down to the pressuring depths, not desiring a mate too much.
