And look! It has grown larger fins! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Princess Terpsichore is a dragon-child of the Pseudo-Royal Hall, a clan of superb wanna-bes. Terpsichore is one of a gaggle of frozen hatchlings residing in the Hall, watched over in their rough-and-tumble pursuits by forever patient Queen Varda, stoic King Duarte, and comical King Lucio. Terpsichore loves to dance, and is often seen tumbling about in the nursery, guided by some inner music that only her ear can detect.
