Mundus Cantormaris Dragons are a gentle, friendly breed of coastal-dwellers. Their annual migrations at the start of spring are among the first indications that winter has ended. They use their beautiful calls to lure people with a desire for peace to them in an attempt to make lasting friendships. It is considered a sign of good luck for one to hear their calls.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

In the past, Tsukioka befriended a powerful enchantress by carrying messages from her to her beloved, a journeying knight. At first the messages were written on simple scrolls, but as the enchantress began to trust Tsukioka more, she started giving him seashells magicked to hold the sound of spoken words. When the knight's traveling was at end and the couple finally settled down, the enchantress gave Tsukioka all of the seashells to do with as he saw fit. Now, he travels the realm carrying a little satchel of the shells, happily passing them between friends as he follows his annual migration pattern. Letters are all well and good, he thinks, but there's just something nicer about hearing the voice of a good friend. Sometimes he'll add a little of his singing to the seashell voice messages too, just for fun.
