Terrae Dragons are primarily herbivores who prefer to eat from the tops of trees. However, due to their massive size, they must rely on small, specialized scales to absorb and convert energy from the sun. Since they live in tightly-knit groups, this form of energy absorption helps preserve the forests in which these dragons reside.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Hoowt spends her days lazing around on the rocky side of "Sharz Cavern", which is almost barren of any other life and is exposed to the beaming sun above.

At dawn and dusk of everyday, she and her daughter, Twieet, go to feed amongst the trees in the immediate area. She sleeps under the roots of the trees that sit on the base of the cavern's hill, which has enough space for two Terrae dragons to squeeze into. Her daughter sleeps with her. They have chosen to sleep there because it is more natural for their breed, and to keep distance from Goldeem, in case he confuses Twieet to be Hoowt again. Hoowt is still undecided of whether she and Goldeem will be together again.
