Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It was born with a full set of wings.

And look! Its wings have grown larger! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

A puffed-up little pipsqueak, this hatchling considers himself to be nothing short of a god, a misconception stemming from his mother's family name. As such, he expects all young females to swoon before his awesome and allow him to kiss their paws. Reality is far different from his expectations, however, and he can often be spotted chasing other youngsters around, shrieking promises of divine retribution if they don't accept a token of his affections.
