Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. Despite being as black as outer space, it has a few bright patterns on it.

And look! It has grown wings and its scales have gained beautiful patterns. It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

This small creature is reclusive and solemn, and can only be identified at night by the presence of the miniature altars she erects on a daily basis. Fragrant plants can often be seen burning on these, mixed with herbs that turn the blaze into exotic hues of blue and silver, and illuminating the tiny dragon crouching beside them, lost in prayer. This bemuses her parents somewhat; while they are also very fond of God, they think she's gone over the edge of eccentricity. But they understand that perhaps this is only a result of her stars reflecting the altar constellation.

The only time she can be hauled away from her duties are during the more hazy nights or during the twilight hours, at which point she'll happily romp about with her energetic brother or protective parents.
