Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It’s kind of shaky on its feet and enjoys playing in puddles.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Quarterhorse loves to use her new wings and hover above bodies of water. Her flying is somewhat weak, and her legs are gangly, making swimming her preferred means of locomotion. Like a real horse, she will whinny and snort to indicate her mood. Her tail is very long for a Waterhorse hatchling, which helps her keep her balance when walking.
