Magi Dragons are, as their name suggests, primarily magic users. They rarely use physical forms of attack. They eat anything they can kill, which is almost everything. They won’t kill unprovoked except when hunting, although they may kill humans if in danger. Their strong magic makes them one of the most feared breeds of dragons.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Crazed for the Flame is one of Phoenix's dragons. Contrary to his name, he is not a pyromaniac; he is easy and mild-mannered, and has a very young heart despite his age, as he is part of the circle of elders. He is a favorite among the hatchlings, often entertaining them with little shows of fireworks or short grants of invisibility, or occasionally telling stories about the great wizards and knights of old, and the beasts they battled. He also takes much pride in his apprentice, Trouble Magnet, who (so he says) shows much more promise than most Magi hatchlings her age. Unfortunately, he has a difficult time keeping an eye on her. His heart is young, but hers is younger, and she's often just a bit too clever for him. This has led to several "accidents" involving spells, all of which Flame has taken the blame for.

Flame's mate is a water dragon, named Simply Obsession. Unlike many of Phoenix's dragons, they share a simple, sweet relationship that has gone nearly unplagued of troubles.
