Skywing Dragons spend most of their lives flying in the air. They hunt from the air, diving at prey from above, and land only to rest. They are some of the fastest fliers, capable of extremely high speeds. The webbing at the end of the tail acts as a rudder, allowing them to easily change direction during flight.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

A member of the long-lived Aracelli line of Skywing dragons, whose name means "Sky Temple", Selena holds to her lineage. She offers the best of what she catches to the Sky-Mother. As one of the more spiritual clans, their advice is oft sought for matters that would require the divine favor of a goddess, and Selena is often asked to make offerings on behalf of others.

When not consumed in her religious duties, Selena takes time to enjoy the deep blue sky, flying for hours on end until the sun begins to set. Like the sky, which can be calm and blue or black and vengeful, so too is the Sky Temple dragonmaiden terrible in her fury. She keeps an eagle eye trained on her adopted family's nesting grounds, and rains down her fury from above when it's threatened.
