Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Banished from Hell is an unusual hatchling, one that had a horrible fate as an egg. The breeder intended to kill her around Halloween because she would be an adult long by then, but then was distracted and left her around a pile of eggs when he was going to pick one. Inverse found her and took her to her Clan, and she's been living happily ever since.
