Cheese Dragons are not actually alive. They are enchanted items of food that act almost identically to dragons. They have no need to eat, but they must “live” in humid environments or they will dry out and harden.

Swiss Fondue is loved by his cave for his giving personality, and the fun flavor he adds to the cave. Because, as nice as fresh kills, leaves and berries are, they leave something to be desired. As such, Fondue is happy to supply some of his cheese to liven up the menu; he'll occasionally chop off a bit of his tail, or cut his nails.

Ironically, Swiss Fondue has never actually made fondue out of his cheese. This is probably due to the lack of bowls in the cave. Still, it remains his life's dream.
