Sunbeam Drakes are the diurnal counterparts to Moonglow Drakes, their eggs having been laid during the daylight hours. They are around the size of a small dog, and while docile, can be flighty and easily startled. Most can be found high in treetops enjoying the bright sunlight, tucking themselves away at the first sign of a storm or impending nightfall. Sunbeam Drakes enjoy flying in the light of the sun, and their treetop dances are beautiful, dazzling, and serene.

Though it may appear at first that dragons and drakes have much in common, the two are completely separate species. Drakes are smaller and less intelligent than their cousin species, though both dragons and drakes sit comfortably near the top of the food chain. They are always found bearing antlers and leathery wings. Drakes share many of the same habitats that dragons do, and typically hunt in packs.

Crypt Dust is currently the only drake to be given the Styxin name. She was found as an egg by Dark Card, who was hoping to bite the egg. However, he soon found that he was unable to, and kept it in the stronghold. She hatched with the help of RunningAir, and earned the last name Styxin by being a messenger between the Styxin Stronghold and other dragon strongholds. She has a soft nature, and never seems depressed. She is the little burst of sunshine in the Styxin line.
