Nocturne Dragons are a strange breed. Whenever light strikes their bodies, they are frozen in whatever position they were in. This leaves them vulnerable and they rely on camouflage to keep themselves safe. They are often mistaken for statues when in this frozen state, but Nocturne dragons do not actually turn into stone. Rather, they merely idle until the sun goes down. At night, these dragons come to life, proving themselves to be powerful fliers, although little else is known about their true behavior.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

User Description

Nocternume is a Nocturne dragon. When the stony egg his owner had brought home apparently hatched into a limestone hatchling statue, the family decided that the Great TJ obviously had a higher purpose for it and placed the statue on a small altar with a variety of food in front of it. To no one's surprise, the statue came to life that night, becoming a blue hatchling who ate the food before freezing again when the light from the torch the owner was using to keep watch hit it. It changed back the instant the light was moved, and froze when the light came back. The amused owner continued this for a while until the hatchling lost his temper, came up behind her and knocked the torch away. Unfortunately, Nocternume was often turned into stone in this way by prankster dragons until he finally snapped and flew away one night. A desperate search ensued and when he was finally found his family promised that if he came back he would never be turned to stone again. He accepted and returned.
