Cheese Dragons are not actually alive. They are enchanted items of food that act almost identically to dragons. They have no need to eat, but they must “live” in humid environments or they will dry out and harden.

Emma was wandering through the desert, searching for the Turpentine's cave, when she tripped on a small rock, after getting up and brushing herself off, she turned to look at the rock. It had holes, and was yellow, and smelled like... The second she realized what it was she carefully picked it up to examine it. It was a big piece of cheese! Emma put her ear to the egg and heard a faint sound from inside. She gave up trying to find the Turpentine's cave and rushed home, she tended to the egg, and when it hatched, tried to keep the other dragons from eating it. When it finally became mature, she named it Cheese Foot, for it was very unusual. Once a day it has to shed a layer of cheese to keep from going rotten.
