Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

A force to be reckoned with in the kitchen, Komesu keeps a well-stocked spice rack and has a small storage cave dedicated entirely to various essential oils and ground herbs. Over the years, he has trained himself to be sensitive to flavors and aromas, and has filled entire books with recipes and food pairings. He is especially fond of rice vinegar, which is not readily available and thus must be traded for when traveling merchants come to visit. Members of the Sylvain clan have taken to bartering meals from Komesu in exchange for his favorite ingredient, which he can use in anything from tangy salads to savory meat dishes.
