Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. Its eyes glow brightly at night, and it enjoys attacking insects and small animals.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Heizo's older sister Shizuka inflicted him with her rigid sense of propriety, and his father passed down a hair-trigger temper. When he flies into a rage, Heizo narrows one eye to a slit and glares with the other, his head tilted to keep his enemy firmly pinned. When angry, Heizo's mind focuses and clears, allowing him to viciously exploit every opportunity to tear into his opponents regardless of whether the conflict is physical or verbal. He prefers physical confrontation, and already trains daily in order to join his parents as part of the Kyokos Vale Defense Force. Heizo has no close friends among the other hatchlings, his stiff formality keeping those brave enough to risk his temper at a distance.
