Sophrosyne Dragons are a rare sight, typically making themselves known only to protect and heal the vulnerable. A visit from one serves as a reminder that kindness prevails, and that there’s always hope for positive change. While it is known that they possess the power to reverse botched spells, some claim they can even cure methodically-cast curses. This has never been formally documented, but these dragons have been seen arriving in the aftermath of violence, and the scars of tragedy seem to heal faster in their wake. The feathers of a Sophrosyne have thus become a symbol of perseverance and light in the face of darkness.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

She was an elusive beast indeed. Child of one of only three dragons of her breed to be found living naturally within the wilds, the people clamored all the more fiercely for her blessings than they did for those of her domesticated kin, driving her already withdrawn soul to seek further solace in solitude. Yet the same heart that was at first so timid was also very tender, and when a plague of demons broke out upon the land in which she'd chosen to conceal herself, she was the first to strike back with righteous battle. Growing quickly and painfully from shy child to seasoned warrior, her efforts secured the light's triumph after a long and bloody war... after which she promptly vanished, without a word to either companions or allies. Yet the legends remind always of her existence, of the selfless hero who gave her everything for all, and of her brother's gentle promise that those who loved her best will someday see her once more.
